The Edgewater Supper Club

Step into a world where time stands still, where history and flavor meld together seamlessly, and where warm welcomes await at every turn. Nestled between the picturesque towns of Jefferson and Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, along the tranquil banks of the Rock River, lies a hidden gem that will transport you to a bygone era of charm and culinary delight. Welcome to The Edgewater Supper Club, where the past comes alive, and unforgettable dining experiences are crafted.

Our exploration began in the “leaning dining room,” an enchanting space with a story to tell. Its origins as a porch, later transformed with a sturdy roof, infused the room with a unique character. Leaning glasses graced the tables, a charming detail that spoke to the establishment’s rich history. From this vantage point, we gazed out onto the serene Rock River, serenaded by the melodious chirping of birds flocking to the abundant feeders. A tantalizing glimpse into the past revealed a narrative interwoven with tales of bootlegging and mobsters, breathing life into every corner of The Edgewater Supper Club.

In 2012, Bill and Vicky stumbled upon this hidden gem, its doors seemingly abandoned by a departing owner. They seized the opportunity to revive the restaurant, embracing its legacy and creating an experience that would capture the hearts and palates of locals and visitors alike.

Our culinary journey commenced at the bar, where Chloe’s skilled hands crafted an Old Fashioned using Door County cherries—a tantalizing twist that elevated the drink to new heights. Even the younger members of our group were pampered, indulging in delightful kiddie cocktails and the delightful bubbles of The Point Premium Root Beer. And as we savored our libations, we were offered complimentary pretzels, a thoughtful touch that elevated the entire experience.

As the clock struck 5 PM, we found ourselves among the first to be seated. The table adorned with rolls and butter, we wasted no time devouring these warm delights. Our attentive waitress, Joy, the owner’s sister, guided us through the menu with grace and expertise. She shared the day’s specials, enticing us to start our feast with an appetizer. The boys’ eyes sparkled with excitement as they eagerly agreed on a plate of Cheese Curds. Matt’s suggestion to try one without sauce proved to be a revelation, allowing us to savor the exquisite flavors of the beer batter.

Our culinary adventure continued with a symphony of salads—Matt, Jen, and Carson relishing their side salads topped with Bleu Cheese, French, and Ranch dressings, each tantalizing the taste buds in its own unique way. A dusting of paprika-like spice added an extra layer of allure, turning these simple greens into a work of art. Meanwhile, Caden embarked on a delightful journey through the unexpected flavors of a homemade coleslaw, reminiscent of the finest German recipes.

And then, the pièce de résistance. Our taste buds tingled with anticipation as three of us chose the mouthwatering 8 oz Fillet, one accompanied by golden potato wedges and the other by a perfectly baked potato. Each bite revealed a succulent, medium-well masterpiece that melted in our mouths. Caden’s decision to savor the Fish Fry was rewarded with two generous pieces of golden-battered cod that surpassed his expectations.

The Edgewater Supper Club is more than just a dining destination. It is a haven where history is woven into every corner, where the warmest of welcomes greets every guest, and where flavors are brought to life using the freshest local ingredients.
