The Palette Restaurant Review

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Palette in Madison, WI, and it was an exceptional experience that truly painted a colorful picture of American cuisine. This restaurant offers a vibrant and inviting atmosphere, capturing the essence of its historical roots as a former Mautz Paint Company warehouse while infusing it with contemporary design elements.

From the moment we stepped in, we were captivated by the hues of colors and textures that adorned the space, transporting me back to the industrial era when the East Washington corridor thrived. The fusion of old and new creates a unique ambiance that sets the stage for a delightful dining journey.

The menu at Palette is a testament to their commitment to American classics crafted with precision and care. We had the pleasure of savoring a variety of dishes that left an indelible mark on our taste buds. The Mushrooms  and  Hand-Breaded Cheese Curds w/ Ranch and Chili Aioli dipping sauces, had  a mouthwatering symphony of flavors,  and earned a resounding 10 out of 10.

The Tenderloin Steak, a 21-day aged 100% black Angus beef, was a highlight of the meal, earning a well-deserved 9 out of 10. Its succulence and depth of flavor were undeniable, though a touch more tenderness could have elevated the experience even further. The Fish Taco, on the other hand, was a perfect 10, with its fresh and zesty profile delivering a burst of coastal delight.

The Braised Bone-In Short Ribs, accompanied by creamy Mash Baby Red Potatoes and vibrant Asparagus, formed a delectable ensemble that earned a solid 9. The robust flavors of the ribs were complemented by the velvety mash, while the asparagus added a refreshing contrast. The Brussels Sprouts, a personal favorite of mine, were an absolute triumph with a flawless 10 rating, showcasing a harmonious blend of textures and a tantalizing burst of flavor.

The Palette Burger was a definite highlight, deserving of its perfect 10 rating. Each bite was a symphony of taste, and the combination of ingredients was executed flawlessly. The fries, an essential companion to the burger, were equally impressive and garnered a well-earned 10.

It’s worth noting that Palette also offers an enticing selection of hand-crafted cocktails and a unique beer collection that complements the culinary journey. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience.

As a final note, Palette’s extended parking options, including the new surface lot and parking ramp, make it convenient for guests to access the restaurant, ensuring that the focus remains on the celebration of colorful cuisine and unforgettable moments.
